What is Person-centred Psychotherapy?

Person-Centred Psychotherapy is a humanistic, holistic therapy developed by American psychologist Carl Ransom Rogers (1902-1987). The Person-Centred approach focuses on the persons feelings, safety and capacity to improve, rather than the symptoms or behaviours shown. It’s not a set of techniques or an authority-led, expert-driven conversation. It’s to create a safe space where the clients can understand themselves. The Person-Centred approach is a very distinct philosophy where we are tracking the client and helping them understand themselves. The word to describe it is “client-led”.

Person-centred psychotherapy helps change the foundation, the building blocks of our understanding of ourselves and our lives.
